Cataract

Clouding of the natural lens — the most common reversible cause of vision loss in adults.

What is it?

A cataract is a gradual clouding of the natural lens inside the eye. It is part of normal ageing for most people; it can also follow trauma, long-term steroid use, or develop early in diabetes. Cataracts cannot be reversed with drops or glasses — but modern surgery is one of the most successful operations in medicine.

Symptoms to watch for

  • Cloudy or hazy vision
  • Glare and halos around lights
  • Difficulty driving at night
  • Frequent prescription changes
  • Faded or yellow-tinted colours

How we treat it at Hussain Eye Care

We confirm the diagnosis, measure the eye for an intraocular lens implant, and discuss your visual goals. Modern phacoemulsification surgery is performed under topical anaesthesia and most patients are back to normal activities within days. We coordinate the procedure and provide all post-operative follow-up.

When to see a doctor

Book an assessment when cataract symptoms start interfering with daily activities like driving, reading, or work.
